HIFU- THE GROUNDBREAKING FACIAL UPLIFT

HIFU targets the deep down foundation layer of your skin, the same layer that is addressed in cosmetic surgery. Unlike lasers, which penetrate the skin from the outside to inside, the HIFU procedure bypasses the surface of the skin, and delivers targeted energy specifically into the deep, structural tissues and muscles where collagen thrives. HIFU involves penetrating ultra-sound energy to stimulate collagen production in the deep dermal and sub dermal levels, fascia and the SMAS layer which results in micro injury to that tissue. It results in a ‘selective thermal coagulative zone’ on the subcutaneous layer and SMAS layer improving the skin aging. As the tissue heals, it increases collagen and as the collagen fibres organise and shorten, a tightening effect is seen on the skin.

What is the HIFU Treatment

Ultrasound gel will be applied to cleansed skin. The hand-piece will then be used to deliver ultrasound energy beneath the skin.

HIFU is a non-surgical face and neck treatment that uses ultrasound to actually lift and tone loose or sagging skin without any downtime. It is the only non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.

Technology involved

HIFU energy creates thermal coagulation on the target layer of skin tissues with no damage on the skin surface. It stimulates collagen synthesis and regeneration, forming new collagen and thus providing long term lifting and tightening effect.

Unlike the general HIFU of treating solid tumour, the HIFU that is used on the skin for rejuvenation purpose has very short exposure duration (milli second). So the energy delivered to the target is also low(below 15J per pulse). As the ultrasonic is emitted in short time, it does not damage the epidermis and upper dermis but is able to target the SMAS layer and deep dermis.

Experience

HIFU does not cause major discomfort. You may feel some discomfort, warmth or heat sensation or even a slight pain that lasts less than a few seconds and only during the pulsation cycle when ultrasound energy is being applied. The discomfort is very brief and a good sign that the collagen building process has begun.

Customize

No two people are the same. So it follows that no treatment plan for facial rejuvenation and skincare will be uniformly the same either.

After the initial consultation, a personalized HIFU treatment plan that is tailored to the individual will be planned.

Possible Consequences/ Precautions

There may be a slight redness for up to a few hours following the treatment, and a small percentage of clients may have slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

These will disappear within hours. Some patients report feeling a slight prickling or heat under the skin. Cooling is not required. Anaesthetics will be provided to ensure patient comfort as tolerance levels vary, but treatment isn’t unbearably painful.

Recommendation for best results

24 hrs pre and post no alcohol or hot baths. We recommend that you maintain a good diet and an active lifestyle. We will instruct you with a bespoke homecare regime that will ensure maintenance of the results.

Improvement

Improvements are immediate and progressive too. Your body will continue to produce fresh collagen over one year. After that, you may wish to continue touch-up treatments.

Duration

Each treatments takes 30-120 minutes.

No of sessions

Most patients need only one session. Results will appear over 2 to 3 months or even up to 6 months following treatment.

Results will last for

20% of your overall result will be seen immediately with the remaining 80% being seen within 6 months of the treatments the collagen-building process continues.

Patients treated with HIFU still have fresh young collagen after a year’s time following the procedure and can continue for up to another year depending on the condition of the skin.
